Been woodsheddin' with KC CDs for the past couple months and still can't get over how great this band is. Unbelievably great. Clarence, Roland, Billy Ray, and who ever else, depending on which version ..still to this day, (by far) the benchmark of bluegrass. |

Sadly, they aren't mentioned on forums these days. Its current pickers that get discussed. Odd. |

I agree with you Mur....You never hear them mentioned anywhere. Even on XM radio bluegrass channel, it's rare. I heard Mockingbird once on XM and thats it. All of the bluegrass pickers seem to be clones or variants of Tony Rice.. |

quick story here about a navy friend of mine that found a tape in a local instrument/music store @20 yrs ago, said it was kentucky colonels"on stage" and asked if he should buy it . I said yes at all costs!! he's been a devoted Clarence fan since!!! I think you can do no better than kentucky colonels if you are going to listen to bluegrass. In my friends' case ,it was his 1st bluegrass tape. No going back after that!!!!My own personal wish is , that I could have been a fly on the wall at one of their practices or attended one of their shows at the time!!! |

Just had to reply.
I recently found "long journey home" again..stuff still in boxes after moving.
There's not many musicians that make you laugh out loud with their exhilarating brilliance.
Yup. Best band in the world. |
