I found this ~20 minute mp3 in GREAT audio quality of Clarence jamming with Tony and Larry Rice and Bobby Sloan....(according to Tony in his book, this was a couple months before Clarence was killed).

Songs John Hardy, I Am A Pilgrim, Bugle Call, New River Train

http://frobbi.org/doch/Tony%20Rice-Clarence%20White/Rice-Whitejam.mp3

previously I had only heard New River Train in poor quality but this sounds like it's right from the master stereo tap

Wow! Thanks Brian! Trying to figure out who's playing what; it's hard for me to tell since they're both on the same channel. Does Clarence kick off John Hardy and I Am a Pilgrim and Tony Bugle Call Rag?

I'm pretty sure Clarence kicks into John Hardy at about 37 seconds in.. take the rest from there Laughing

Most of John Hardy was Tony but Clarence has his turns in there too. There's a big difference in guitar tone perhaps some of that due to microphone proximity. In general John Hardy was in Tony's repetoire as he recorded that on one of his early albums http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Tony-Rice/dp/B00000024L/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_16.

Man I just love this. I've listened to it a dozen times already. From what I've read, Tony didn't get Clarence's old D-28 until after Clarence passed. So what were they playing? The Whitebrook?

Great stuff! Tony was very advanced!

Hard to say what they were playing at the jam but at the time I think Tony was playing another vintage D28. Clarence at the time was playing either the Whitebook or Nobel. Tony didn't get the Clarences old D28 until 75 or 76 (I forget exactly) but there are pix of Tony playing another D28 with an enlarged soundhole and extended fingerboard from around this same time so it is very confusing!!!
