New concert over at wolfgangs vault. Pretty good sound and a decent set list.

Really great concert, one of the best i've heard.. wonder if this is one of Dinky Dawson's soundboard shows finally seeing the light of day?

I think it says Dawson Sound on the download. I attended the concert and, if memory serves, there was a lot of feedback that night. Didn't think it was one of their best, but interested to hear it.

Anybody notice how Roger decided to sing "Pretty Boy Floyd" at this concert? He's layin' on the Woody Guthrie accent pretty thick! Must have been getting in touch with his heretofore suppressed Oklahoma self. Cool

Listening right now. This has to be one of the best concerts out there. Competes favorably with ANY live Byrds recording. This one is amazing. I'm surprised there isn't more buzz about it.

I agree that this concert is a gem. But it's not that new; a poor quality audience recording has been around for decades.

Hi

I've just downloaded this fantastic gig, and, as I was at the second night at the rainbow, ie Monday 17th January, I can confirm that most (if not all) of this great new download is actually from that night, the 17th.

I know this as my brother and I recorded it the night we were there (I believe that recording is the source of at least some of the tapes that have circulating out there). I intend to dig the tape out soon and verify if it is the case, but many of the idiosincrasies from the night I was there are on this soundboard recording! Smile I'll report back if I have any news!!

True, it may have been around a while, but not with such a great sound as now.

Right, I have revisited the tape that I made on the night and can confirm that the new recording courtesy of Wolfgang is ALL from the second night, ie 17th January, not 16th as they state!

The only differences I have found so far are the shortening of the onstage comments before Tiffany Queen, and the halving of "Hold It!" at the end of Eight Miles High - all done to make it fit a single CD though I'm sure, as it runs very close to 80 minutes.

For those interested the stage talk before the start of Tiffany Queen went...
"What Do You Mean By That?" (McGuinn)
"This Is a blood test..." (Parsons)
"Bunch of wise guys huh? We eat punks like you for breakfast..." (McGuinn)...
<then>

This is a marvellous download and one I'm SO glad to have after all these years. There goes my old original audience tape, into the archives forever!

S Smile

Does anyone know who the source of this tape was ? It would seem a tape this good would have been given official release consideration.

Is the $48.00/year VIP membership worth the price of joining?
