The thing to remember...Clarence wasnt playing bender licks..he was playing licks he already knew with a stringbender...if you look at his earlier electric stuff..."Time Between" for example...or This "Tony Honk", the licks, and timing were already formulated....Clarence wasnt trying to emulate a stringbender, but he used the stringbender to play the licks he already used..

Good advice for anyone studying his style...

Jim's long post was very comprehensive and easy to follow. I spent several years on Jerry Donahue bend transcriptions before getting my first lefty bender. Most of those focused on g and d string single and b-g-d double double or triple stop bends. Then the first bender tunes I worked on were the Diamond Rio Jimmy Olander tunes and the Bob Warford songs on the Ronstadt, Michael Dinner and Ian Matthews recordings. I really didn't come to appreciate Clarence until the first CWF jam, surrounded by Drake, Brian, Mur and Jim. Yikes!

along with baby what you want me to do, don't forget their (Byrds) closer, Hold It. played virtually every date they did. many recorded versions on the internet. also from nashville west, Memphis.

not his highest forte, but still very unique signature Clarence approach.
