Here's my 92 Tom Petty Rickenbacker 12. I love it. The modern version is the 660/12. The neck is wider so its really playable complete with a 12 piece bridge. Nothing sounds like a Rick!

Johnny, tell us about that silver sparkle beauty with the checkerboard binding. I'd love to see more pics of that one and hear the story behind that Tele! |

370-12...I put toasters in it and changed the nut to the slightly wider spaced 330-12 nut...the nut makes a pretty big difference in the ease of playing.... |

Hey Don...
Any trouble with the "R" tailpiece when re-stringing?
Do you find that the middle pickup gets in your way? |

I think right now I have a D'addario roundwound electric 12 string set on mine...I did use Pyramids but didnt like them. They were high tension and felt like telephone cables
Its been a while since I changed strings, so I may be mistaken about the D'addarios...Ive got some Ricenbacker strings and will put them on one of these days... |

Two reasons why McGuinn tunes down..a) it's easier for him to sing now that he's older...b) Pyramids are real high tension and will bow your neck under standard tuning. You crank down on the truss rod but I'd rather not mess with it on a Ric... |

I use RIC No. 95404 12-Str Ned Rbd Wnd set. What's the rationale for using flatwounds on a Ric 12? A more "mellow" sound? I have a mid 80s Rick 360 12. I changed the bridge to the 12 way adjustable version when I bought it and later installed a set of toasters. Part of the retro overhaul (which I never did) was changing one of the caps in the tone controls. Anyone do that? |

Yes the flatwounds sound great on a Ric 12...nice and compressed tone... |
